The Belgian Baseball and Softball Competitions 2023 start this weekend

ByMartin April 6, 2023April 6, 2023

Opening Day for the 2023 Baseball and Softball season in Belgium is Saturday, 8 April.

Actually Opening Weekend because on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 April almost all Belgian youth and senior competitions will start. This year with many changes and innovations and with more registered players on Belgian soil than ever.

In Division 1 Baseball, national champion Hoboken Pioneers will compete against 7 top clubs. For 2023, D1 is  limited to 8 teams and after the split in the summer, 4 teams will compete for a place in the Belgian Series 2023.

Division 2 Baseball has been expanded to 16 teams with a single game format instead of double headers. D3 is divided into two regional series of 6 teams. While D4 Baseball this year consists of 3 regional series.

Our teen ball players will start this weekend enthusiastically in the Gold and Silver series of U15 and U12 or in one of two Beeball Majors series for the youngest.

The Softball Competitions comprise Ladies, Men and Coed Competitions.

The women are well represented in 2023. The ladies of Chicaboo’s Stabroek will defend their national title in Softball Ladies D1 in a pool of 6 teams. In D2 Softball Ladies, 5 teams will play, while D3 has grown to 2 pools of 7 teams.

Softball Men, Belgian Series winner Hoboken Pioneers will defend its title in SM D1. There will also be a Softball Men reserves competition with 6 teams.

For the Coed Slowpitch Competitions, the full Slowpitch Gold and Silver competition calendars are included in our new WBSC competition software.

So, 2023 will be a season with many changes and also a new website. This year there is the possibility to follow almost all games online via Live Scoring. The system was tested in D1 last year and for Season 2023 the big roll-out will be made to all teams in all divisions. Extensive statistics, team rosters, social content (etc. ) will also be available online.
