Red Hawks selection announced for Super6 Baseball Tournament
KBBSF – FRBBS announces Red Hawks selection for Super6 Baseball Tournament.
Baseball and Softball are on the up and up in Belgium. Our national Baseball Team the Red Hawks is amongst the top 6 in Europe and therefore joins the European Super6 Tournament held from September 18 – 23 in the beautiful ETO-Ballpark Hoofddorp The Netherlands.
The Super6 Tournament is a new initiative from ESF and CEB (WBSC Europe) inviting the top 6 European baseball and softball countries to participate. The Super6 replaces the European Championship that normally should have been held this year. The E.C. itself has been moved to 2019 so that it can serve as a qualifier for the European Olympic Qualifiers 2019 which will be held shortly after.
For the biggest part the selected Red Hawks players were part of the young guard who achieved a magnificent 6th place in the E.C. They will be joined by experienced players. Now they bring not only innovation but also more international experience. Led by head coach Sven Hendrickx, Belgium returns to the highest level!
In the run-up to the Super6 the Red Hawks will play three practice games against Spain this week. Spain is a strong contender which reached second place in the E.C. 2016. On Thursday 13 and Friday 14 September practice games will be held in Rotterdam on the fields of Neptunus starting at 19:30.
Saturday 15th of September our National Team will also play against Spain on their own Red Hawks Fan Day XL in Brasschaat. Young and old can then get acquainted with our sports and of course with the players of the National Teams. Selfies, Signatures, Home Run Derby, BeeBall, Academy Baseball and Gentlemen’s League are on the program. Everyone is welcome and entrance is free. So, Be There!
