Hoboken Pioneers win Belgian Series Baseball 2021

Hoboken Pioneers win the Belgian Series and are Belgian Baseball Champion 2021

In this year’s best-of-3 Belgian Series Baseball, the Pioneers defeated the Brasschaat Braves with two games to nil.

After an exciting second half of the regular Gold season – and even needing a test match between Pioneers and Squirrels last week – the Belgian Series turned out to be a rather one-sided affair. On Saturday 23 October, in a well-attended Brasschaat, Pioneers won 12-1. Sunday 24 October in a full house at Hoboken, the Pioneers defeated the Braves 15-5 in the 7th inning to celebrate their championship at home. Pioneers has been coached for three years by ex-Red Hawk TJ Antonacci. The team added back in the ranks (former) Red Hawks such as Thomas de Wolf, Kenny Van den Branden, Dennis de Quint and Nicky Mertens.

A “young” Brasschaat Braves finished second in the Belgian Series, allowing both the Braves and Pioneers to play European baseball next year.
