First Wheelchair Baseball Clinics for To Walk Again vzw.
Saturday, March 18th 2017 the time had come. To Walk Again had the opportunity or “scoop” for offering the first Wheelchair Baseball Clinics / Initiations in Belgium. This was at the On Wheels Omni Sports Day in the beautiful sport hall of Heist-op-den-berg. Two groups of enthusiastic wheelchairs user were given explanations by our guys of the Neerpelt Nstars. Some essential baseball wheelchair techniques were taught, and after that a fun baseball match was played.
Sigrid Gontier, of the Borgerhout Squirrels, had organized the first wheelchair Softball Tournament in Flanders earlier this spring. This had created a lot of buzz and media attention. Thereby, in the past few weeks, many requests to play wheelchair Baseball or Softball have arrived at Nstars, Squirrels and VBSL / KBBSF.
That’s very nice and actually not surprising because this brand new sport in Belgium is for the wheelchair users super fun to do and definitely here to stay!
