The U18 Baseball5 National Team shines in Valenciennes

Team Belgium finished in 3rd place this weekend at the Baseball5 annual tournament organised by the Vipères Baseball Softball and Cricket Club in Valenciennes, France.

The youth team showed great team spirit and finished at the top of their pool in the first round with 2 wins and 1 loss, but having had the fewest points against. Team Belgium faced the top teams of Valenciennes (Los Pepinos), Andenne (Black Bears) and Pontoise-Vauréal (Royals) in the ranking pool A for places 1-4. They tied twice and lost one match, showing strong mental will to come back from behind and just from the fact that they were playing against strong adult teams.

After finishing 7th at the first European Baseball5 Championship in Sofia last November, under leadership of Nicolas Havelange, our Youth team participates in local tournaments to gain more experience and to promote our new sport. Having much fun doing so!

In January they finished 5th in Binche and 3rd this weekend in Valenciennes. Team Belgium U18 will be back in action on February 25th at the Open Arena Baseball5 tournament in Andenne. Everybody is welcome to come watch this fast urban version of baseball! A live stream will be available. The schedules will be published soon.

Stay tuned also for the announcement of the Senior Baseball5 National Team open tryout (16+) coming soon…
